Each Überiyechi™ grid is made up made up of intersecting words arranged horizontally and vertically.
Numbers between letter cells indicate the result of applying the indicated operation (+ − × ÷) to the letters' numerical values. (Refer to table). The two letters could be in either order.
247 × = 19 × 13 = ‘SM’ or ‘MS’
23 ÷ = 23 ÷ 1 = ‘AW’ or ‘WA’
Some but not necessarily all letters that appear more than once in the grid are identified by matching shaded shapes.
